What: Hundreds of homeless in Miami-Dade county will be treated to a free lunch on Saturday November 19, 2016 thanks to generous volunteers that will take part in the #HashtagLunchbagNorthMiami. The social media charity movement started in Los Angeles and has quickly gone viral nationwide.
The organization was created by some friends who wanted to give back in a fun way. They purchased food for 100 lunches, enjoyed each other’s company while packing them, and then took to the streets. They kindly distributed the meals, and then decided to share the experience with their friends online – tagging their posts with #HashtagLunchbag.
The program aims to use social media to bring awareness to hunger in the hopes of eliminating it.
Who: The #HashtagLunchbag movement was born on Christmas Day 2012 in a Los Angeles apartment with just a small group of friends. What started as a simple attempt to deliver a hearty & balanced meal prepared with their own hands to their local homeless community. has turned into a national movement.
The Team of H.O.P.E will be teaming up with #HashtagLunchbag to bring this powerful movement to the city of North Miami, a city on the Go!
